Steps to force software update Astro set-top boxes
If you are experiencing any technical issues on your Astro box, or want to force update your Astro set-top-box to the latest software version, you may perform force update by following the steps below. This will force to reinstall your set-top-box's software, and it will also restore its factory settings.
Newer method:
1) Reboot your Astro set top box (STB) until "boot” appears at the front panel.
2) On Astro remote control, press and hold "Power" button continuously for few seconds, until "Startup Options" page appears on your TV screen.
3) Press 1 to download software update.

PVR box - DMT 5 and DMT v2
Old method:
1) Reboot your Astro set top box (STB) until "boot” appears at the front panel. 2) On the front panel, press all these buttons in the following order: “Standby” > “Left“ and “Up” continuously. 3) If it is done correctly, an "Auto update” screen will appears on TV and set-top-box's front panel display. Do remember that these actions must be done at the front panel of your box and not from remote control. |
HD box - DMT 5 (or Zapper)
1) Reboot your Astro set top box (STB) and wait until the first LED light indicator appears at the front panel.
2) On the front panel, press "Standby” button continuously for 3 times. 3) If it is done correctly, an "Auto update” screen will appears on TV and set-top-box's front panel display. Do remember that these actions must be done at the front panel of your box and not from remote control. |
HD / PVR box - DMT 4
1) Reboot your Astro set top box (STB) until "boot” appears at the front panel.
2) On the front panel, press all these buttons in the following order: “Standby” > "Ch +" > "Standby" button. 3) If it is done correctly, an "Auto update” screen will appears on TV and set-top-box's front panel display. Do remember that these actions must be done at the front panel of your box and not from remote control. |
